TRR#42 - Shabby Pastel Christmas

Hello and welcome to another challenge at The Ribbon ReelLenet has chosen the most beautiful inspiration photo for us all to play with for the next two weeks and asks us to 'Make a Christmas card /project using cream, baby blue, pink and some bling!'

and here's my take using lots of beautiful Waltzingmouse Stamps!

I created my very own customised background by stamping pink and blue snowflakes randomly over the white cardbase and then added two blue banner strips which had been embossed using Sizzix snowflakes embossing folder.

The sentiment is from 'Say it Loud - Winter Holidays'

I used the gorgeous snowflake image from 'Sewing Box Christmas' as the focal point for this card.  I stamped the smaller herringbone (dogtooth) patttern from 'Heirloom patterns' in pink and blue ink in order to paper piece the snowflake - fussy cutting for added dimension.I used the beautiful circle stamp from 'Faux Fun Circles' to stamp a blue background to the snowflake. I trimmed the snowflake bauble with light pink small pom-pom trim from The Ribbon Reel and finished with some pretty pink and white striped grosgain, also from The Ribbon Reel. I also used some gorgeous 'pink sheer ruffle edge ribbon', some '6mm blue grosgrain ribbon' and the gorgeous 'ivory button twine' from The Ribbon Reel behind the snowflake image.
I also stamped another pink strip of herringbone for the horizontal border across the top third of the card. I used the Marianne Designs Snowflake die to cut a lovely white felt shape as part of the background.

and here's another view...

CR84FN#68...All Hearts Come Home

Yay, it's time for more beautiful colour inspiration from CR84FN! We have an absolutely gorgeous inspiration picture for you to play with for the next two weeks using the colours Burgundy, Gray and Cream. Yum!!

and here is my card using those colours...

I used the beautiful heart stamp from Waltzingmouse Stamps 'Seasons of Love - Tagsset as my focal point, stamped in London Fog gray ink. I then stamped two small ovals from 'Cameo Creations' and fussy cut around them to frame my sentiment. I added a sweet Christmas Rose and some lovely ivory button twine tied in a triple bow.
The background papers are MME and are trimmed with some beautiful velvet ric rac trim, gray seam binding and some gorgeous Prima lace. The wonderful gray and cream Vintage Finds label was from my friend Pauline  - I simply distressed the edges with some Antique Linen ink. I used my pearl pen to go in and add a little extra detail here and there.

I really hope that you can play along with us at CR84FN this time. This will be our last challenge before the Christmas break, so it would be great to have you join us ;)

DYSU#99 - Make it Count, Use a Number

Here I am, back again with more fun from DYSU
This week, we are being challenged to use numbers somewhere on our projects!

I have used 'Crafty Sentiments - Mia' on my card today, I coloured her using Copic Markers and then paper pieced her cute jacket and wellington boots with some super cute cherry papers, I made her a little skirt from some pretty white lace which I simply gathered and adhered underneath the hem of the jacket with some strong double sided tape.

I cut and scored some white card and punched a pretty border along the bottom edge. For the background I chose papers by MME and Papermania - I took some of the number paper and cut into a pennant shape banner, added a floral doily die cut and a large red paper flower behind her.  I stamped a little sentiment, tied some sheer white polka dot ribbon around the bottom half of the card, added a red paper flower and a polka dot button and topped off with a few lovely sparkly red gems.

Here are our fabby sponsors:

* Winner's Choice of 4 Images

The Paper Shelter -
*$20 gift certificate

*Winner's Choice of 5 Digis

Join in with the fun - we really want to see those numbers...Visit the DYSU Blog for full details!

Serendipity Stamps One Layer Challenge

Hello and welcome!

I have a card to share today for the second of this months challenge over at 'Serendipity Stamps'. Mary has challenged us to create a one layer card using paper and ink only :).

I did some masking on this card. I stamped the 'marble cells background' over the top of the 'butterfly outline' die cut shape. I then used the negative die cut area to mask the background and sponged on some Milled Lavender Distress ink to create a solid butterfly shape.

The beautiful 'floral butterfly cling stamp' was then stamped over the top of the solid butterfly shape using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

The 'Thanks' sentiment is from 'Everyday Words Large Cling Set' - it actually reads 'Thanks so much!' so I've just inked up the one word.

I used a 'Perlen Pen' to add the cream pearl detail to the butterfly wings and to its body and also little touches on the sentiment.

The sale this week at Serendipity Stamps is 20% off the Thanksgiving Category and it’s good through Nov 28th. Follow THIS LINK to the Thanksgiving category to get this special offer.

Hey everyone - hopefully I'm just in time for the WMSC sketch challenge this week.

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog

I have used lots of different WMS stamp sets on this card for my sweet son, Jack. I turned the sketch on its side and made a smaller trifold section in the middle. I wanted it to be like a little storybook.

There are quite a few photos, so you may want to skip to the end ;)

I created the background by stamping the diamond pattern stamp from 'Heirloom Patterns' in white ink onto the blue & Kraft card base. I then took three different sized stars - two from 'Yonder Star' and one from 'Free Spirit Boy' and stamped them randomly over the existing background. I took some Punchinella and used it as a stencil and sprayed Cosmic Shimmer Mist over the Cardbase to give it a subtle aqua colour wash.I sponged a little blue acrylic paint around the edge of the cardbase. I sprayed the front of the little tri-fold book using more Cosmic Shimmer and homemade Punchinella stencil and then die cut a little window with Spellbinders Labels 2 Die. The sentiment is from 'Half Pint Heroes Additions' with an added crown image from 'Seasonal Remedies' above it.

So here is what is inside the centre fold out piece...

Page 1

Page 2

The die cut windows go up in size incrementally using Labels 2. I used the cute flag stamps from Bitty Banners to create the bunting along the top, embossed in white and strung up with aqua blue Bakers Twine. I added a few blue stars stamped using one of the 'Yonder Star' stamps.

I used one of the long pennants from bitty banners as a label on which to stamp the sentiments.

Page 3

And the very inside...I coloured the little guys skin and hat using Copics and paper pieced his T-Shirt and jeans. The sun is created from a solid circle stamp and dotted circle from 'Teeny Trees' outlined with a knitted effect outline from 'Faux Fun Circles' which I think looks a little like the suns rays ;).

And another view...

I'm also entering this into Color Challenge #218 over at Color Throwdown.

DYSU#98 Rainbow

Welcome to another Thursday challenge from DYSU!

We are so lucky this week - myself and the Team got to play with some AMAZING stamp sets from one of our sponsors this week:

who are giving you the chance to win
* $20 Gift Certificate

we are also being sponsored by the wonderful
play along for your chance to win a
*£15 gift certificate from them

and onto my card using 'Sushi Bar' from The Alley Way Stamps

I used the sweet little crane image from this set - my sister in law was married last summer and had a thai themed wedding and had the most beautiful display of these little origiami paper cranes hanging in the reception venue.

I stamped the pretty little flower included in this set using versamark ink onto a kraft cardstock base and  used Antique linen distress ink to sponge around the edges. I stamped the crane image twice onto some colourful rainbow patterned paper, cut around it and then cut an extra 'wing' and used foam adhesive to add a little dimension.
I used more pretty MME patterned paper for the background.
I stamped a few of the little sentiments from this set for extra interest behind the bird. For the main sentiment i added the extra 'U' by from the word 'Sushi' by inking it up separately. I wanted the bird to appear as though it was hanging decoration, so suspended it from the top of the card using some natural button twine and a little triple twine bow!

Stop by the DYSU blog for more wonderful inspiration from our great team and enter the challenge for your chance to win wonderful prizes!

and here's one of those cranes that came home with us after the wedding, with it's little stamped counterpart!

TRR#41 - Crochet

Happy Monday everyone!  It's time for a fresh challenge at The Ribbon Reel.  Zuzana has chosen this beautiful crochet inspired picture for us to work with this time and asks us to create a card with crochet lace/flower + button + ribbon/twine.

Here's my card...

The colours of that crochet blanket in the photo inspired me to pull out some beautiful (new to me!) Kaisercraft patterned papers and also to use elements from their 6x6 patterned paper pad. Perfect for the homespun, homemade feel of the photo. The heart was cut from aqua Patterned Paper using Serendipity Stamps Heart Outline Die.

I took some gorgeous May Arts Teal Silky Crush ribbon and 'Natural Crochet Lace' available from The Ribbon Reel to create a banner down the centre of the card and finished with some 'brown button twine', a crochet lace bow and a lovely 'Cream Resin Dahlia flower'.

Thanks so much for looking and do stop by the rest of the Ribbon Reel Design Team members as they will surely have some really beautiful cards to share with you today.

CR84FN#67 and some exciting news!

Good morning everyone! Today I have some news, which I have busting to share with you all, but couldn't until today!

I am one of the new Design Team members for CR84FN!
I was overcome with excitement when Mona contacted me, and asked if I would like to join the team. Of course, I had a really long think (about a nano second) and said YES!! Still pinching myself and so excited to be working with such a talented group of designers, it really does mean a lot to me!!
So today is my very first DT card for CR84FN, and the colours couldn't be any more gorgeous!!

and here's my take...

I used one of the flower images from Flourishes Lenten Rose stamp set and coloured the petals using purple Copic markers the leaves neutral shades.  I added a little white to the center of the flowers just to lift them a little

I used a vintage music background stamp inked up in Gold to cover the kraft card base.  I then added some old vintage bookpaper and a purple doily which is cut using the Cheery lynn french pastry doily die, I stamped the lovely sentiment from Flourishes 'Zinnias' stamp set onto a label cut using PTI 's Fillable Frames #1 die. The purple butterfly in the top right corner is a rub-on by K&Co. I also added a little flower from the set at the bottom too :)
I finished my card with some layers of vintage lace, gold silky crush ribbon and some creamy coloured seam binding. I also attached a 'sparkler' embellishment by Websters pages onto the seam binding bow.

Thanks for visiting and for looking! Do stop by the rest of the CR84FN Design Team for more fabulous inspiration! Simply click on their name to visit their blog :)

Have a great week!
