I'm here today is to share a summery card inspired by this week's colour challenge over at The Play Date Cafe and Sketch 110 from the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog. It doesn't come much more summery than these colours does it!
and here's that wonderful sketch created this week by the lovely Laurie Scmidlin, I actually decided to turn the sketch on it's side so that it's horizontal.
and finally, onto my card...the main image is from the fabulous 'North Shore' stamp set by Waltzingmouse Stamps which I've coloured using Copic Markers and then sponged some Tea Dye Distress ink around the edge with the oval die still in place. The little tiny flowers under the 'North Shore' banner match the flowers from another Waltzingmouse set - 'Free Sprit Boy' exactly, so I stamped and coloured those too using shades of pink, yellow and orange Copics and added them to the top right of the North Shore image.
I used Sizzix Framelits to create some labels from cardstock and some corrugated card. I used a grungy background, again from Waltzingmouse Stamps 'Free Sprit Boy' set and inked it up with orange, pink and yellow inks, stamped off onto some scratch paper and then stamped again onto my die cut label to give a more subtle, washed out effect. I sponged on some orange coloured acrylic paint onto the other corrugated label and when dry I went back in and distressed using some Tea Dye ink by Tim Holtz.
The background is simply some yellow paper onto which I stamped one of the little scrolls from the North Shore set repeatedly along the bottom to create a border. They remind me of waves a little bit, so I thought that would tie in quite nicely with the rest of the card. I finished with some gorgeous pink stripe cotton twill tied in a bow along the bottom.
I hope you have enjoyed your weekend! We've had a scorcher here in the UK, so Jon and I took the boys and the puppy down to the Ford in the little Cotswold village of Shilton for a splash around. They had the best time even though the water was freezing! Sometimes the simplest things are what our kids seem to love doing the most! We're relaxing tonight though and looking forward to watching the London Olympics closing ceremony.
Thanks for visiting!
