TRR24 - 'Pretty as a Posey'

Hi, it's time for another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel.  My TRR teamie, Debbie is our host for the next two weeks and has given us the theme 'Pretty as a Posey' - create a card or project inspired by the following photo and use PINK, YELLOW, AQUA and NEUTRALS WITH FLOWERS and RIBBONS...Isn't it a beautiful picture?

I decided to make a box and co-ordinating card for my two little boys to give to their Grandma this Mothers Day (in the UK, Mothers Day was yesterday!)

I have used flowers, lace, pins and trim  - all available from The Ribbon Reel store.
The box itself is a template I made from little box that used to hold business cards - I simply drew around it onto some Aqua cardstock and stuck it together with some strong double sided tape.

The top of the box consists of some pretty pink felt cut to size using my pinking shears, stitched onto some Pink Paislee 'Spring Jubilee' paper. I added a little bird (more about him later) and some beautiful pale pink Gardenia, white/pink rose and hellebore flowers and gorgeous stick pins from The Ribbon Reel.

The sides of the box are covered with Pink Silky Crush, Turquoise Sheer Ruffle Edge, White/Pink Spot Organza ribbons and cotton lace.  The box is fastened together using some Apple Green bakers twine attached to a sweet Prima sculpture flower which has been adhered onto a single piece of white guipure lace from The Ribbon Reel Store.

My little bird started life as a clear plastic shape which I simply covered with Mod Podge on one side and stuck onto some yellow Pink Paislee She Art patterned paper. I added some glitter to his tummy and tail and used a tiny black adhesive pearl for his eye.

I used most of the same elements on the co-ordinating card. I used some beautiful Pink Paislee 'Spring Jubilee' papers to create panels which I stitched into place using my sewing machine.  I created a rosette by gathering some pink silky crush ribbon and then perched the little yellow birdie on top.  I used more turquoise sheer ruffle edge ribbon, some white grosgrain, lace, ivory loopy trim and a gorgeous pink tea rose to finish - all from The Ribbon Reel.

I decided to base the layout of my card on the fabulous 'Retro Sketch 3' from the Retro Sketches blog.

Don't forget to visit The Ribbon Reel Challenge Blog for details on how to enter the challenge and link up your card/project...alternatively you can click on any of the links on my side-bar to visit my other Ribbon Reel DT team-mates:

Can't wait to see what you make! Have fun.

Here's a peek at the little heart shaped cookies my boys made to put inside for Grandma!
